Software Policy

BlackOut Power Technologies – Software Policy
Effective Date: 05/15/25

Purpose

This Software Policy outlines the standards for software tools and technologies developed, promoted, or distributed by BlackOut Power Technologies (“we,” “our,” or “us”). The policy ensures transparency, ethical conduct, consumer protection, and brand integrity across all affiliate partnerships and software-driven activities.

Spirit of the Policy

At BlackOut Power Technologies, our mission is to maintain a transparent, compliant, and user-respectful software environment that benefits:

  • Consumers who use or interact with our tools
  • Advertisers and partners who collaborate with us through affiliate relationships
  • Publishers and third-party developers who operate within our ecosystem

We believe mutual trust, clear communication, and consumer-first thinking create the best outcomes for all parties involved.

Stakeholder Responsibilities

Consumers

Consumers have the right to clear notice and meaningful consent when interacting with our software. The purpose, value, and effects of the software — including affiliate tracking — must be transparent and easily understood before installation or interaction.

Advertisers and Partners

Advertisers working with us must be fully informed about any software’s capabilities and how it operates. Brand representation, user experience, and data handling must align with their expectations and compliance standards.

Publishers and Software Developers

Publishers and third-party developers working with us must adhere to this policy, deliver value to users, operate transparently, and avoid any deceptive, intrusive, or non-consensual behavior. They must also comply with all local and international data laws.

BlackOut Power Technologies

We commit to reviewing, validating, and enforcing software behavior across our ecosystem. We provide clear approval workflows, disclosure requirements, and compliance reviews to support safe and effective partnerships.

Software Rules and Requirements

The following rules apply to all software developed, distributed, promoted, or affiliated with BlackOut Power Technologies:

  1. Approval and Updates

All software, including extensions, plug-ins, AI tools, and downloadable applications, must be reviewed and approved by BlackOut Power Technologies prior to public release or affiliate promotion.

Subsequent changes, enhancements, or feature additions must be re-submitted for review. All changes must be transparently disclosed on the software’s description page or website listing.

  1. Transparency and Distribution

Publishers must provide full disclosure regarding:

  • Distribution channels
  • Software functionality and data handling
  • Any bundling practices (which are generally prohibited)

Bundled distribution (e.g., auto-installing add-ons or extensions without separate consent) is not permitted.

  1. User-Initiated Engagement Only

Affiliate redirection or cookie placement may only occur after a user-initiated action, such as clicking within the software or activating a browser extension. Automatic redirects or preloaded affiliate tracking are strictly prohibited.

  1. User Consent and Disclosure

Before any software is installed, the following must be provided:

  • Opt-in consent
  • A clear and accessible End User License Agreement (EULA)
  • A Privacy Policy disclosing data collection, cookie use, and any affiliate tracking activity, including what triggers such activity

These disclosures must be presented in a non-deceptive, easy-to-read format and available both pre-installation and within the software UI.

  1. Easy and Complete Uninstallation

All software must allow users to easily and completely uninstall or disable it from their operating system and/or browser without requiring additional tools or hidden processes.

  1. Respect for Pre-Existing Affiliate Attribution

Software must respect existing affiliate tracking ("Prior Interactions") and may not override traffic or cookie data from other partners unless:

  • The user actively engages with the software while on the advertiser’s site, and
  • The software publisher owns the domain that referred the consumer

Software must detect and respect the following indicators of prior attribution:

  • Redirection through known affiliate domains
  • Presence of tracking parameters such as afsrc=1 or cjevent-like identifiers

Affiliate links must not overwrite or interrupt legitimate existing referrals from other publishers unless fully compliant with these guidelines.

Enforcement

Violations of this Software Policy may result in the following actions:

  • Termination of affiliate or distribution partnerships
  • Suspension or blacklisting of non-compliant tools
  • Reversal of commissions or revenue tied to non-compliant activities
  • Legal action for deceptive practices or breach of contract

BlackOut Power Technologies reserves the right to audit, suspend, or block any tool or publisher at its discretion.

Policy Updates

This policy is reviewed regularly and may be updated as laws, technologies, and partner standards evolve. We will notify partners of material changes and maintain the most current version on our official website.
